SECTION ONE

  1. 1lb butter, either printed or plain.
  2. New milk cheese, Stilton or flat shape, not tried. Mr Dick Guy’s special prize.
  3. Six hen eggs.
  4. Loaf white bread.
  5. Loaf of brown bread. Mrs V Stark’s prize.
  6. Fruit cake made from 1/2lb of flour. Mrs E Calvert’s prize.
  7. Sandwich cake, unfilled and not sugar dusted
  8. Sponge cake, without fat. Mrs E Whitehead’s prize.
  9. Loaf of gingerbread. Mrs E Whitehead’s prize.
  10. Bara Brith using a fixed recipe. TLC@Gunnerside prize.
    Ingredients: 8oz (225g) self-raising flour, 1 cup warm tea, 4oz (115g) muscovado sugar, 1 large egg, 6oz (170g) mixed dried fruit, 1 tablespoon marmalade.
    Instructions: Put fruit, sugar and tea into a bowl and leave overnight. Next day add egg, flour and marmalade. Bake for 1-11⁄4 hours on medium to low heat in a 2lb loaf tin.
  11. Battenberg cake. Ghyllfoot Tea Room prize.
  12. Four muffins, any variety but all the same; labelled.
  13. Carrot cake. Mrs A Calvert’s prize.
  14. Chocolate sandwich cake, filled not decorated – boys/men only. Muker Tea Shop prize.

SECTION TWO

  1. Two items of food from a Dales’ kitchen on a bread board (2 pieces of food in total).

  5. Six small Yorkshire cheese cakes.
  6. Two tea cakes.

    Entries to be typed on A4 paper. Do not put your name on the story. Send entries along with entry form to secretary by closing date. Entries will then be sent to the judge prior to the show.
