Classes 2016: Horticulture

HORTICULTURE

1st £8; 2nd £5; 3rd £3 (unless otherwise stated)
Rules
1.      Any person exhibiting any flower or vegetable which has not been grown by the exhibitor shall forfeit all prize money, except Open Flower Arrangement classes.
2.      Any fruit or vegetable unfit for use shall be disqualified.
3.      All potatoes must be washed.
4.      Own foliage to be used, except where otherwise stated. No wiring except for buttonholes.
5.      Maximum space allowed for flower arrangement is 2’ 6”. Tray gardens must be no more than 18” square.
6.      All exhibits must be staged before 10.00am.
7.      Any prize may be withheld at the discretion of the judges.
8.      No exhibits will be allowed to be removed from the tables or stands in the marquees until 4.30pm without the written permission of the secretary.

Entrance for horticultural exhibitors by bottom gate only.
Cars must be removed from the show field by 10.00am.

OPEN CHILDREN’S HORTICULTURE

Open to children aged 16 and under.     Entry Fee: 50p

  1. Cress grown in a decorated egg shell. Reynoldson Alderson Trophy.
  2. Edible necklace.
  3. Tray Garden, arranged and built up by any child attending school, small figures, such as people, seats etc., may be used. Max size allowed 18in (45cm) square.
  4. Vegetable or fruit grown by exhibitor.
  5. Animal (including bird) made from vegetables and/or fruit. Mr PJ Guy’s Prize.
  6. Arrangement of garden flowers and/or foliage arranged in an item of own footwear.

OPEN FLOWER ARRANGEMENT

Flowers can be home grown or bought. Maximum space for arrangement is 2’6”.

  1. Arrangement in an unusual container.
  2. Arrangement in candlestick. Mrs WN Hope Memorial Presentation Plate.
  3. Lady’s corsage.
  4. Arrangement for the Queen’s 90th birthday. Accessories allowed.

Dahlia classes to be shown under Dahlia Society Rules.
